Four Copper Pennies is the brainchild of four sisters who have spent their lifetimes throwing really fun parties! Have you really even lived until you’ve turned a basement into a magical mermaid oasis, fed fifty people in your driveway on a random Friday night, or thrown THE January birthday party?

But why pennies?

In 2014 we lost our dad to Multiple Myeloma. We spent his last days by his side while he was in palliative care at UAB. Our youngest sister had just found out she was pregnant after several miscarriages. There was joy and overwhelming grief. During those hard days we began finding pennies. It started when our mom took a break to sit outside and found four pennies on the picnic table. Then we would find pennies walking through the parking garage, or in the hall. Everywhere, we found pennies.

Shortly after our dad passed away our mom and one of our sisters were out late shopping because they had procrastinated a project. Mom mentioned how aggravated dad would have been that they were out so late, when pennies literally fell from the ceiling and bounced all around them. There was no explanation for how that happened.

And since then we find pennies. Pennies on good days, pennies on hard days. Pennies on ordinary days. But those pennies remind us that he is with us and that he left us with strict instructions to carry on his legacy. And his was a legacy of laughter and joy. And a legacy of love.

And that is our plan with Four Copper Pennies, to share love and joy and laughter with all who enter the doors.
